Liverpool student goes viral on TikTok showing off her uni kitchen after huge fire
‘You’re 11 days into living in your new uni accom and you’ve already nearly died’
A Liverpool student has shared the aftermath of a fire which broke out in her student accommodation kitchen.
In a video posted to their TikTok page, user Geo shows the damage the fire caused to their communal living area at Calico student accommodation.
This included a large scorch mark on the floor, greyed walls, and the remnants of furniture.
@geosecretacc05 genuinely hilarious i cant get over it ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ #uni #newroom #accomodation #liverpool #university #freshers #student
The video, captioned “genuinely hilarious I can’t get over it”, shows viewers the burnt kitchen units and sofas in the communal space of their shared accommodation – there’s even a melted plastic chair in the corner of their living area.
Geo spins around in the TikTok video to highlight the true scale of the fire’s aftermath.
The giant burn mark in the middle of their kitchen floor looks like something out of a horror film.
The video doesn’t address how the incident occurred, but viewers can see burnt cleaning products, remnants of the kitchen blinds, and scorch marks on the kitchen’s fire door.
Finding the funny side of the ordeal, she posted the video to TikTok where it racked up over 305,000 views and 33,000 likes.
One user in the comments joked that they liked the “charcoal grey” they had chosen for the walls, whilst another commented “don’t think you’re getting the deposit back”.
Someone also simply asked: “did someone bring a dragon home?”.
Other TikTok users took to the comments to make a lesson of the video, saying “this vid should be used as proof as to why uni students should need to pass basic cooking lessons before going to uni”.

Fire safety in student accommodation is no joke, but it’s safe to say that this Liverpool student made the most of a terrible situation regardless. I guess going viral on TikTok should be everyone’s first thought post-fire incident, right?
A spokesperson for Fresh (Calico) told The Liverpool Tab: “Unfortunately, we did experience a small kitchen fire at Calico October and, following an investigation by the Fire Brigade, it was determined this a result of negligence from the resident(s).
“Fresh’s Residents Team have been trained in fire safety and fully understands the protocols needed. Importantly, we can confirm no residents were harmed, and any residents impacted by damage were temporarily rehoused while the areas were out of action.
“We have a zero-tolerance policy to antisocial behaviour, and the appropriate action has been taken with those involved and updated communication on fire safety has been distributed to all residents following this incident.”
