Amy Bradley Is Missing left out major detail about first sighting that ‘proves’ it was her

Two divers reportedly saw her on a beach

Netflix’s Amy Bradley Is Missing covers the disappearance of the 23-year-old, but it left out one major detail about a watch seen in one of the first reported sightings.

Amy Bradley disappeared from the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Rhapsody of the Seas while it was on route to Curaçao in March 1998, and nobody knows what happened to her.

The Netflix documentary missed out five huge details about the case, and also failed to mention that a witness saw Amy wearing a watch she had been given by her boyfriend.

Two divers sighted Amy Bradley months after she went missing

In August 1998, just five months after Amy went missing, two Canadian divers claim they saw the 23-year-old on a popular beach in Curaçao known as Playa Porto Marie. This was the first ever sighting, and it was mentioned in the docuseries.

One of the divers, a man called David Carmichael, claimed a woman who matched Amy’s description was with two “aggressive men” on the beach. One of them fitted the description of the bass player, Yellow Douglas.

He called out to his friend and asked if he has a piece of his diving gear, and the woman reportedly came towards them and tried to communicate. However, the man who looked like Yellow then called her away to a beach bar.

Carmichael claimed he recognised the missing woman after seeing her photo on America’s Most Wanted and told People at the time: “She looked frightened, like she was about to say something, when one of the guys motioned her away and gave me a menacing look.”

“I am haunted by that encounter with Amy. I know it was her,” he added.  The FBI investigated the witness statement, but nothing came of it because they couldn’t confirm the sighting.

He accurately described a watch Amy was gifted by her boyfriend

Now here’s where it gets interesting. The documentary left out the fact that David Carmichael accurately described Amy’s tattoos to the FBI, and a watch that she had been given by her boyfriend.

“Amy’s boyfriend was the manager of a restaurant in Virginia. One of his suppliers gave him a Dos Equis watch, similar to the one above. But Amy’s watch was a different colour. Amy brought the watch with her on the cruise and she was wearing it when she disappeared,” a post on the Amy Bradley Is Missing website explains.

“Information about the watch had not been released to the media. David Carmichael accurately described the Dos Equis watch to the FBI, the Bradleys, and the Federal Grand Jury. He has no doubt that he saw Amy in Porto Marie.”

Below is a picture of the watch Amy was known to have with her on the cruise, which has the logo of the Mexican beer Dos Equis on the front. This is a very rare design, and it’s unlikely anyone else would have had it.

The fact that he saw the woman wearing a watch the same as Amy’s could prove that it really was her. Amy was sighted many times after that, but the last one was now 20 years ago, in 2005.
