The Russell Group unis where grads actually earn higher salaries than Oxbridge students in 2024
Gals, we’ve been lied to
Obviously, the only point of going to one of the more academic Russell Group unis is to make more money afterwards. Nobody is doing all that extra studying because they actually enjoy it. Weirdly enough, Oxbridge students don’t get the highest grad salaries of all the Russell Group unis. Grads of two Russell Group unis are earning way more money in 2024 than the Oxbridge students, and there are plenty of other unis where grads get pretty similar amounts. I guess Oxbridge’s supremacy is a myth?!
The Russell Group uni with the highest grad salary in 2024 is the London Schoo0l of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Funnily enough, finance students make quite a lot of money. LSE grads are making an average of £39,966 a year and a half after finishing their degrees. Imperial College London isn’t far behind LSE. Grads from there are raking in a whopping £37,823. Imperial seems to be great for jobs all round – it’s also the Russell Group uni where the most students get grad jobs within 15 months.
This compares to the University of Cambridge’s average grad salary of £36,108, and the University of Oxford’s of £35,193. Surely the definitive evidence that Cambridge students are cleverer than Oxford students is that they had the common sense to choose the uni where it’s cheaper to live and you earn more money?
Loads of other Russell Group unis actually have very similar grad salaries to Oxbridge in 2024. Students from University College London (UCL) and the University of Warwick generally make upwards of £34,000. King’s College London students have an extremely decent average grad salary of £33,215.

The Tab worked this out by using data from the Higher Education Statistics Agency’s (HESA’s) 2024 Graduate Outcomes Survey and doing a load of maths. It refers to students who freed themselves from uni in the 2021/2022 academic year, and are now earning money in their first grown-up jobs.
