Here’s the meaning behind the ‘Nice Try Diddy’ meme you keep seeing commented everywhere
Let’s get to the bottom of this
Sometimes the strangest things get spam commented under posts, with Nice Try Diddy appearing under random posts online, but what is the meaning behind the meme?
The meme seemed to start gaining popularity around May 2024, with Nice Try Diddy being commented on underneath an online advertisement for a safety map which marked the location of nearby sex offenders.
In June the meme took off even more, appearing under very mainstream posts such as the trailer for Will Pharrell’s Lego film as well as the advertisement for the new Call of Duty game.
This led to a lot of people online become very confused as to the meaning behind the Nice Try Diddy meme, with one Redditor explaining: “Answer: The ‘nice try Diddy’ comments on things are part of a meme where people joke about P. Diddy trying to be involved in everything, following raids on his homes.
“It’s a silly internet joke implying he’s trying to sneak into unrelated situations, like the game’s release. It’s just a dumb joke lol.”
The raids that took place at Diddy’s home back in March sparked a lot of false theories, such as one where people claimed he had secret underground tunnels beneath his mansion.
Alleged screenshots from an apparent CNN broadcast of the raids showed what was supposed to be the underground tunnels, with those on Twitter claiming the tunnel led directly to the Playboy mansion.

Whilst it is claimed there is a series of underground tunnels that led from the Playboy Mansion to various celebrities’ homes, these were reportedly sealed off and shut down in the 1980s, as reported by People.
But the rumour that P Diddy has a series of underground tunnels beneath his LA mansion is false. Reuters confirmed in March that the claims were false and that the CNN screenshot of the tunnel was a “manipulated image and not something CNN reported.”
As for the meaning behind the Nice Try Diddy meme, it seems the main aspect of it is people trying to imply the rapper is trying to get involved in everything, but I don’t really understand it all either.
