For the fourth time in a row, Nottingham Uni has ranked the best in the UK for graduate employment

Good news for students at UoN as the university maintains its reputation as a leader in graduate careers

For the fourth year running, the University of Nottingham has more graduates than any other British university entering highly skilled employment.

This is according to HESA (Higher Education Statistics Agency) Graduate Outcomes data, which classifies full-time, UK graduates from 2018/19 to 2021/22. Nottingham is top for securing graduate-level jobs, which also tend to have higher starting salaries – the future is looking bright.

Recently, the Longitudinal Education Outcomes (LEO) data also showed that 91.9 per cent of graduates are in further study or sustained employment at both three and five years post-graduation.

This data also found UON graduates to have the second highest salaries amongst Russell Groups unis one year after graduating, excluding London and Oxbridge, at £27,000.

The university is very happy with this continued success, with Pauline Maden, the Director of Careers and Employability, saying: “We’re very proud of the graduate outcomes our alumni continue to achieve. Their success in entering high skilled work is a testament to their knowledge and ability, alongside the outstanding academic and extra-curricular support they receive whilst at the university”.

It was found in the East Midlands by age 31,  graduates earn 37 per cent more than non-graduates on average, including 96 per cent more in accommodation and food services, 34 per cent more in entertainment, arts and recreation and 33 per cent in wholesale and retail trade.

The government has set out certain industries that will drive the future and give economic growth, and these are all heavily dependent on graduate skills. These being the life sciences sector (73 per cent), creative sector (76 per cent) and professional and business services (74 per cent). This means graduates across the country will continue to earn more and drive growth for the UK.

The university has also ranked second in the Rate My Placement Best Universities for work experience in 2024 across the Russel groups and third most-targeted overall in the graduate market, in a 2024 High Fliers report.
