Lancaster University Boat Club is fundraising £5,000 for a new boat
‘Our equipment is not up to the same standard as we are’
Lancaster University Boat Club is fundraising to purchase a new boat for their senior women’s eight team
They are hoping to buy a model 2016 Filipi eight which was used in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
The team have faced much success recently, including a win at Durham Regatta.
Their GoFundMe page says: “Setting the goal of purchasing a new boat for the top eight of our senior women will also benefit both the senior women’s second eight and the novice women’s squad, as current eights will be passed down.”
Senior Women’s Captain Liv Dyson told the Lancaster Guardian: “We are a group of passionate, strong girls who have the dedication and potential to be excellent. Our equipment is not up to the same standard as we are, and we need help to buy our new boat. This is the perfect boat for us and we are in a race against time to purchase it. With your help and kind donations, we could be racing in it as early as next week.”
VP Sport Jack Watson said: “Our women’s senior eight rowers are the cream of the crop when it comes to Lancaster University Boat Club, but they need the right boat. They’re looking to go out onto the water this year in a new boat to help them on their way. Having already won silverware over the last couple of years, they’re looking for your help and support to fund a new boat in their year ahead. Thank you!”
The team have already fundraised £3,370 out of the £5,000 needed. The link to the team’s GoFundMe page is here.
