OMG! A new ice cream shop has opened in Lancaster and we can’t wait to go
The award-winning Miogelato recently opened on New Street
Miogelato, a new gelato shop, opened on New Street, between Journey Social and Ethel & Em, in Lancaster last week.
The owners, David and Katy Waddington, have run a branch in Morecambe since 2016, and have now expanded into Lancaster.
They have not yet confirmed their opening hours, however they have stated they are currently open seven days a week between 10am-5:30pm, but are hoping to extend their opening hours for events.
The new ice cream shop has opened in the former Fabrix haberdashery, which closed earlier this year.
Miogelato have announced on their Instagram that they are offering 24 flavours of gelato, with six dairy free/vegan flavours to choose from, four rotating specials, and array of toppings. They are also serving milkshakes, frappes and a range of hot drinks, if ice cream is not your thing.
The owners run a store in Morecambe on the Promenade and an Italian restaurant on Queen Street in Morecambe called Miaitalia. Through these two businesses they have gained a good following across the district. The opening of a new gelato store in Lancaster will also aim to increase their following to new and returning customers.
Miogelato won a Best Newcomer award in the National Ice Cream Competition in 2018.
Owner, David Waddington, said they will hope “to stay open later into the evening for all events/through some evenings on the run up to Christmas, and also seasonally in Spring/Summer when the nights are lighter/warmer”.
