Nottingham nightclub PRYZM believed to be closed down after owners go into administration
The club was reportedly being stripped yesterday afternoon
Bella FatherleyNottingham night club PRYZM is being striped fuelling rumours that the venue has closed down, after it was revealed that the country’s biggest nightclub owner REKOM UK was planning to call in administrators.
Nottinghamshire Live have reported that there were signs of activity inside the club, located on Lower Parliament Street.
The owners are remaining tight lipped with a man from REKOM refusing to comment whether or not the club has closed down saying “there is a lot going on at the moment.”
A source told Nottinghamshire Live: “It’s all done, all over. Administrators went in last night started stripping the venue. They have all closed about 16 clubs.”
Another said: “PRYZM Nottingham has permanently closed. There have been vans outside clearing the premises all day.”
A spokeswoman for Limegreen Communications, which handles PRYZM’s public relations said: “As you know REKOM UK appointed administrators last week to review its business. This work is still ongoing, and plans re not 100 percent confirmed. We will be in touch later this week as soon as we have further clarity.”
Nottingham Trent University’s popular student night at the club, Lemonade Friday, went ahead as usual last week.
DJ Just James, who usually appears at the club on Fridays, appealed for new work on his Instagram page. In a post he said: “Well today’s turned into another grim day for nightlife in the UK. More venue closures with immediate effect from a company who apparently put its people first. This means I’m now available on Friday nights and will on longer be at PRYZM Nottingham.”
REKOM UK owns more than three dozen nightclubs and 12 late-night bars across the country. The company has said that it has been an “extremely difficult” year for the sector due to the cost of living crisis and energy price hikes.
PRYZM opened in Nottingham in 2016 following an £800,000 investment, which created 50 jobs. Before that the club was known as Oceana. With a capacity of 2,500, it is the biggest club in Nottingham.
