Travis Barker reveals the chilling signs he ignored before tragic plane crash in 2008

Travis Barker has revealed his young daughter gave him a haunting warning before the plane crash that nearly killed him in 2008.

The Blink-182 drummer was seriously injured when the private plane he was travelling on crashed during take-off at an airport in South Carolina. Four people were killed in the accident, including Travis’ assistant Chris Baker and security guard Charles Still Jr.

Now, speaking about the crash on the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast, Travis revealed that his daughter Alabama, who was just three or four years old at the time and is now 20, became unusually distressed when he told her he was leaving.

He said: “I say bye to Bama. She’s young at the time. She’s three or four years old,

“She’s like: ‘Dad, don’t go!’ She’s bawling, and she doesn’t usually do that. She’s like: ‘The roof’s gonna come off! The roof’s gonna come off!’ and I’m like: ‘What is she talking about?'”

At the time, Travis had been performing a show and was originally meant to travel home the following morning. But his group decided to arrange a private flight at the last minute after some of them became eager to get home sooner.

He explained: “I get there, play our show, and then we’re supposed to leave the next morning. But everyone else that was with me was in a hurry to get home. So, we booked a private plane, super last minute.”

And Alabama wasn’t the only thing that left Travis feeling uneasy about the journey.

He said he already had an “awful” feeling before getting on board, even calling his dad to show him the plane and explain that something didn’t feel right.

Travis said: “Even back then without an accident I was like: ‘Who‘s the pilot. Has the plane been maintenanced?’… Everyone’s like: ‘Trav, you’re never going to get in a plane crash’ …”

He then described seeing the aircraft for the first time, saying: “[I saw] one plane in the distance it’s really small. We pull up to the plane and I’m like: ‘This can’t be our plane. There’s no way. I call my dad and show him the plane and tell him I have this awful feeling.

“My dad was like: ‘You’re gonna be fine. Just get on the plane. Call me when you get home’ … [I] got on the plane but I knew something feels off. I even told my dad, ‘If something happens to me, please make sure the kids are taken care of.’

“I was saying way too much. All the signs were there.”

Looking back, Travis said he would now trust that feeling rather than getting on the flight.

He added: “Now older me would just say, ‘I think I’m not gonna get on the plane.”

His friend Adam ‘DJ AM’ Goldstein also survived the crash, but died a year later after a drug overdose.

Travis has previously spoken about the horrific injuries he suffered in the accident, revealing his “whole body” caught on fire as he attempted to escape the aircraft.

He subsequently spent six months in a burn centre recovering from his injuries and refused to travel on a plane for years afterwards.

It wasn’t until August 2021 that Travis flew for the first time since the crash, after he began dating Kourtney Kardashian.
