Perez Hilton’s mum and sister ‘will seek custody’ of his children as he remains in hospital

Perez Hilton’s mother and sister are reportedly seeking custody of his three children as he remains in hospital following a public mental health crisis.

The gossip blogger has three children: Mario III, 13, Mia Alma, 11, and Mayte, eight.

According to a new report from Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice Substack, Hilton’s mum and sister are now looking to take custody of the children while he recovers.

“His mom has been the steady presence in those kids’ lives for years,” a source told Shuter on Monday. “She and his sister have practically raised them. Right now, everyone agrees the children need stability above all else.”

Hilton’s family previously released a statement addressing what his children experienced during the incident earlier this month.

The statement, shared on his website on Thursday, said Hilton’s children, niece and sister were at his home shortly before his breakdown.

“Just minutes before the public livestream incident, Perez’s children, niece, and sister were inside the home,” the statement read.

“When it became clear that Perez was experiencing a severe mental health crisis and harming himself, they immediately fled to protect the children from witnessing any further trauma.”

The family said their main priority was now helping the children process what had happened.

“Our highest priority right now is helping the children begin to heal from what they experienced,” they said. “An important part of that process is allowing them to safely return home and begin rebuilding a sense of security and normalcy.”

A second source told Shuter that Hilton’s family believes he needs to concentrate on his recovery before he can take care of his children again.

The source said Hilton “needs to focus on getting healthy before he can safely care for the children”.

“This isn’t about punishing Perez,” they added. “Everyone wants him to recover. But until he’s healthy and stable, the children need to be with the people who can look after them.”

Hilton, 48, was hospitalised after a TikTok Live on Tuesday 4th August, during a livestream where he appeared to harm himself with a knife.

First responders were called to the scene and Hilton was taken to hospital, where he remains nearly a week later.
