More student accommodation opening in Kingfisher

They aim to provide 29 bedrooms

Plans for room expansion have been approved by Charnwood Borough Council, in the hope to create more accommodation for students at Lufbra.

Harrington Investments Ltd submitted their plans, which aim to provide a further 29 bedrooms to University students.

Kingfisher Halls, in Kingfisher Way near the centre of town, offer students an alternative to on-campus, university-owned accommodation.

A Design and Access Statements was submitted along with the plans, which states: “Allowing some well designed development on the site would benefit Loughborough in a number of ways.

“It would provide more student bed spaces in a purpose built, well managed accommodation facility, which has the potential to draw students out of the private rented sector and reduce the impact on C3 dwellings in various areas of Loughborough.

“The proposal seeks to provide additional storeys on top of the existing building. The site is well managed and has 24-hour wardens to reduce the risk of anti-social behaviour and is predominantly inhabited by post graduate students.”

The news is welcomed by those seeking student accommodation without the noise and commotion of the Student Village.
