Can you point to Loughborough on a map?

No, it’s not near Scotland

Apart from “what sport do you play?” the most common question asked to prospective Loughborough students is where exactly is it.

We took to the streets of London to find out if people actually know where Loughborough is, and whether they could point to it on a map of the UK.

Jess, 25, Marketing

“A lot of cities beginning with L seem to be here… And I think Loughborough is kind of Northern.”

Roy, 60, Retired

“I have never heard of Loughborough, so maybe it’s somewhere up here”.

Wayne, 30, Restaurant Worker

“I reckon Loughborough is somewhere up North, probably near to Liverpool”.

Chima, 21, Security

“I went to Nottingham Trent, we thrashed Loughborough at Rugby, so I know exactly where it is”.

Pippa, 26, Cashier and Zaz, 28, Therapist

Pippa: “Loughborough is definitely up North, possibly near to Scotland?”

Zaz: “I think I drove past Loughborough on the M1, I know it’s near Leicester.”

Adam, 22, Risk Analyst

“I’ve just graduated from Nottingham Uni, so I’m certain it’s near here”.

Sophie, 29, Shop Owner

“Loughborough Junction is just down the road, but I’m guessing that there is another Loughborough somewhere more Northern”.

Bruno, 27, Baker

“I’ve only just moved to England, so I’ll randomly guess it is about here”.

Ebun, 20, Student

“My friend goes to Loughborough Uni, so I remember that it’s close to Leicester.”
