The Paget Street drugs raid that gripped Loughborough two weeks ago could be part of a £35million drug empire.

Two green-fingered growers have been jailed after police found they had set up one of the biggest cannabis factories ever found in Leicestershire.

Uncle and Nephew Nirmal Saund and Darryl Saund set up the operation, which comprised in excess of 3,000 plants in a factory on an industrial estate in Lutterworth.

According to police, the factory is part of a vast Midlands “empire”.

The operation was so large, it managed to reach our little town, where two young adults had their house raided by riot police in early February.

The pair also set up a factory on Knightthorpe Road.

The Saunds have found themselves brought to justice with big jail time.

51-year old, Nirmal Saund admitted to conspiracy of supplying the drugs and has been jailed for ten years and six months.

Nephew, and 31-year old, Darryl Saund, of Foxcote Drive in Shirley, Solihull, at first denied any involvement to the scheme but was later found guilty after trial and jailed for a  nine years.
