BUCS Wednesday round-up

Where history begins

Loughborough as usual, has had a successful week of BUCS action.

Netball in action against Manchester. Lufbra came out on top 50-46 in the end

Arguably the biggest fixture of the day was a repeat of the BUCS Championship final of last year as the Loughborough Student Riders took on Worcester University’s 1s.

Worcester have won the BUCS Championship four years in a row now and Loughborough were looking for revenge for the 96-90 defeat suffered in the final last year.

This year’s game was incredibly tight and tense as Worcester came back in the latter stages of the fourth quarter to tie the game up at 67-67 and take it to overtime. In overtime Worcester secured the win 76-83 to break Luff hearts once again. Here is how it went:

The other BUCS Basketball results went like this:

Elsewhere on Wednesday the Hockey and Badminton clubs both had successful set of fixtures against Birmingham and a few other teams.

The Men’s hockey club have outdone themselves for their Christmas pic

Women’s hockey celebrate their win over Birmingham

The ladies are clearly not big fans of Birmingham, but an amazing day of results for them.

Women’s Lacrosse in action also against Birmingham

Away from campus it was not a great day for the men’s rugby club as the 1s lost 17-10 to Nottingham and the 3s lost 58-8 in the last 32 of the BUCS Trophy.

The Rugby League men’s 1s had a big win against Oxford 72-4, while women’s rugby union won 29-36 away at Leeds Beckett.
