Celebrities with the weirdest business side quests you won’t believe are real

I’m booking a flight to LA so I can try Cherlato

Apparently being paid millions to make movies isn’t enough for celebs anymore. In 2024, pretty much every celebrity has about ten businesses to their name. Some make a bit of sense, like alcohol brands or clothing lines. Many make absolutely no sense. Here are the five celebrities with the weirdest business side hustles. You couldn’t make these up if you tried.

1. Gal Gadot started a boxed macaroni cheese company

No, that’s not a Cards Against Humanity card. The actress founded Goodles in 2021. There’s a whole range of different shapes and flavours with cringey names like “Bling Bling Bac’n” and “Shella Good” which must only be funny in America. The business seems to be going well, though, because you can buy Goodles products in loads of US supermarkets. The company donates one per cent of its products to food banks, which is nice.

2. Scarlett Johansson opened up a gourmet popcorn shop in Paris

This sounds like the kind of job a character in a Scarlett Johansson movie would have. Yet it’s real. Yummy Pop was a gourmet popcorn shop in the Marais district of Paris (note the past tense). Scarlett Johansson started it back in 2016 when she was married to the French businessman Romain Dauriac.

Yummy Pop only sold really fancy flavours of popcorn – cheddar, olive oil, salt and pepper, Canadian maple, strawberries and cream and chocolate strawberry. Scarlett’s personal favourite flavour was apparently truffle, parmesan and sage. The smallest portion cost €6.00 (£5.00).

If you think this sounds like a questionable business idea, you’re not wrong. The shop appears to have closed in 2018.

3. Cher makes gelato called… Cherlato

Last year, Cher founded a Californian-based ice cream company. I’m not sure why.

You can’t buy Cherlato in the UK yet. The company does pop-up booths at LA nightclubs and celebrity events.

The website is somewhat difficult to navigate because it’s mostly just pictures of Cher. The flavours don’t look half bad – lemon meringue blackberry pie sounds like it would slap. It had better taste good, because one cone costs $11 (£8.50), even without any toppings. Yet another reason to never live in the US.

4. Kendall Jenner designs tooth-whitening pens

Her teeth are sparkling, to be fair. Kendall Jenner has been part of an oral beauty company called Moon since 2019. In 2022, she launched her own collection of tooth-whitening products. She created (or at the very least, put her name to) the The Rose Mint Collection of tooth-whitening pens and toothpaste.

5. Cardi B sells cans of alcoholic whipped cream

Seriously. Out of all the celebrities who have business side quests, this has got to be the weirdest ever. Whipshots sells vodka-infused squirty cream. It’s ten per cent alcohol. There’s whole range of flavours, including lime, mocha and pumpkin spice.

Apparently Cardi B’s fans are into this though, because Whipshots has sold over five million cans since it Cardi B launched it in 2022. Americans are so confusing.
