It isn’t exactly news in 2024 that some of what people post on social media *gasp* might not be true to real life. The age of AI brings a whole load of new ways for celebs to edit the pictures on their Instagrams and give everyone else crippling self-esteem issues.

Freepik, an AI image generation tech company, has worked out how many recent posts from the most followed accounts on Instagram it reckons have used some kind of AI editing. A disturbing number of celebrities have already started using AI on their pictures without you noticing. We really are all living in the Matrix.

Khloe Kardashian is apparently the worst offender. Over a quarter of her pics have some kind of AI editing. Surprisingly, there aren’t any other KarJenners in the top ten. Kim Kardashian is actually one of the celebs who relies on AI editing the least. Only 0.47 per cent of her recent posts use it. The celebrity who depends on AI content the least is Dua Lipa. AI generated just 0.29 per cent of her recent Instagram content. I knew she was a real one.

So, here are the ten celebs who edit the pictures on their Instagrams with AI the most.

10. Katy Perry

According to Freepik, 12.23 per cent of the pop star’s Insta pics used AI editing. I guess it’s an AI’s world?

9. Cristiano Ronaldo

Er, I think he’s famous for some kind of sport? Cristiano Ronaldo is the most popular person on Instagram, with a massive 641 million followers. 12.5 per cent of his posts have been edited with AI.

Freepik claims 12.48 per cent of the singer’s Instagram feed was edited with AI.

7. Disha Patani

This actress uses AI effects on 12.55 per cent of her Instagram pics.

6. Beyoncé

Contrary to popular belief, Beyoncé doesn’t actually look flawless at all times. 14.16 per cent of her pics and videos are edited with AI.

5. Chris Hemsworth

14.25 per cent of Chris Hemsworth’s Insta content is edited with AI. Although to be fair to him, his feed is mostly sci-fi movies and weird perfume ads, and those videos have loads of CGI content in.

4. Raffi Ahmad and Nagita Slavina

This celebrity couple from Indonesia have a massive 76 million followers on Instagram. Freepik claims 14.57 per cent of what they post on there is edited by AI, though.

3. Shakira

Her hips don’t lie, but her pictures do. 15.32 per cent of them apparently use AI.

2. Joko Widodo

The former president of Indonesia is one of the most followed people on Instagram, and he posts some of the most AI-generated content. 15.35 per cent of his pictures have been edited with it.
