Claudia Doumit from The Boys says she faced grim industry pressure to get a nose job

‘It was drilled into me for many, many years’

| UPDATED

Claudia Doumit, who we all know and love as Victoria Neuman in The Boys, has just opened up about how she faced pressure that was drilled into her as a young age to get a nose job on her “unconventional” nose – in order to be cast in more roles. Claudia Doumit is of Lebanese-Italian heritage, and spoke about the pressures she faced to get plastic surgery including on her nose when she was growing up wanting to be an actor over the weekend to fans of The Boys at a convention.

Speaking on a panel for The Boys at San Diego Comic-Con, Claudia explained “It’s a beautiful half Lebanese, half Italian nose. It’s very strong. And it was just kind of, to get a nose job. I booked roles that were the ingenue, that were pretty, that were the leading actress. It was drilled into me for many, many years. Ever since I was a young age I thought to myself, when I book my first job I’m gonna get a nose job. I’m gonna get paid for that and then I’m gonna get a nose job.

“And then I booked my first job and I didn’t get a nose job. I’m saying job a lot here. But I didn’t get a nose job and then booked the next job, and thought ‘I’ll get it now’. And then I didn’t get a nose job! I kept booking jobs and not getting nose jobs. And I kind of realised one day that I was booking jobs with the way that I looked, and I thought ‘Oh, I don’t need a nose job because I’m booking jobs.’

“I’m doing the thing I love and I’m doing it the way I look. And it’s not what the traditional narrative is, but what might be what a lot of people thing beauty might be. I think I wanna see more big noses on women on screen.”

The comments come after Erin Moriarty, Claudia Doumit’s costar on The Boys, had to make a statement responding to the bullying comments she’d received after speculation on whether she’d had plastic surgery. Moriarty wrote in a since deleted Instagram post“ This is something I truly never anticipated writing. We’re all subject to levels of bullying throughout our lives but I am horrified, and I felt that I deserved to take a second to address these things.” She said she was horrified by the reaction from people.
