Everything the Critics Choice Awards 2024 winners list hints about this year’s Oscars
It’s not looking good for Bradley Cooper
Hollywood’s award season is well and truly underway and one ceremony the industry has historically paid particular attention to is last night’s Critics Choice Awards, which is notorious for being one of the best barometers for predicting the year’s Oscar results.
So, in case you’re curious at how the odds are currently looking for Barbie, Oppenheimer, Poor Things, and all of the other big name movies slated to scoop accolades at the 96th Academy Awards in March, here’s everything the Critics Choice Awards 2024 winners list hints about the Oscars:
It’s not looking good for Bradley Cooper in the Oppenheimer / Maestro race
Bradley Cooper was noticeably left fuming when Cillian Murphy swiped the Golden Globe for Best Actor from under his nose last week. And the Critics Choice Awards were much the same story with Best Picture and Best Director going to Maestro’s rival.
But, it’s not all bad news, predictions are currently saying Maestro might get a win for Hair Design later in the season.
Ryan Gosling might have to actually sing I’m Just Ken at the Oscars
It’s hard to know how much of his career Ryan Gosling thinks is one big joke. But he’s never looked like he’s contemplated his life decisions more than the moment it was announced I’m Just Ken had won a Critics Choice Award for Best Song.
He might actually have to perform the track at the Oscars now.
Emma Stone has plenty more success to come for Poor Things
Most Read
Emma Stone has had an unbelievable awards season so far, picking up Best Actress at the Golden Globes and last night’s Critics Choice Awards. Predictions reckon Poor Things could scoop this year’s Oscar for Best Picture, as well as Production Design and Costume Design for Holly Waddington’s unreal ruffle aesthetic.
Barbie is beating the film bro backlash all award season long
There was nothing more annoying than the moment Jo Koy belittled Barbie down to a “doll with big boobs” at the Golden Globes last week. But Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie were the ones laughing when they took to the stage to collect their six Critics Choice Awards last night. And it’s looking likely the Barbie success could well continue on till the Oscars, with the film being tipped for Adapted Screenplay and Original Song.
So, who were all the winners at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards?
