‘I didn’t want to be in that situation’: Haris has spoken about the video of him in a fight

Following being dumped from Love Island, Haris has said he is ‘devastated’ the video was leaked

Tonight saw Haris Namani dumped from the Love Island 2023 villa. This wasn’t a surprise to most, as it was reported on Tuesday he had left the show, after a video of him in a street fight was leaked and shared online.

Following his departure from the Love Island villa, Haris has spoken about the situation of the fight, and has said he is “devastated’ the video has been shared, and said something like that will never happen again.

When asked in his exit interview what he thought about the video being shared, Haris said: “I’m devastated that this video has been seen, it’s not a reflection of my character. I’m not someone that goes looking for fights and I didn’t want to be in that situation. This was a heat of the moment thing.

“The video doesn’t show everything that happened. Afterwards we met up and we cleared the air; we’ve shaken hands and we get along now. It’s not something that would happen again.”

The shocking video was originally shared on Snapchat, and then leaked to The Sun. In it, Haris and another man exchange a number of punches, before the other man falls to the ground. You can hear someone in the background yell “go on Haris” as Haris shouts “I’m not a bully, I’m not a fucking bully”. As he stands over the other person, who is on the floor, Haris says “On my mum’s life…”

The video is said to be from May 2021, and was taken after a night out in Doncaster, south Yorkshire. Whilst Haris was still in the Love Island villa, his father had also spoken about the fight video. He defended his son’s character, and said: “This happened two years ago. They’re friends, they shook hands. This was a long time ago – it’s nothing. He’s not a bad boy, he’s got a good record. He’s been brought up in the right way. This is just people who are jealous and they want to put him down.”
