Jenna from MAFS UK breaks her silence on offensive comments Thomas made on podcast

‘I needed time to process what had happened’

Jenna Robinson, one half of the only remaining couple from this year’s Married at First Sight UK, has broken her silence on the widely condemned comments made on a podcast by her former friend and MAFS co-star Thomas Hartley.

On the podcast, Thomas made offensive remarks about Jenna’s dad, who passed away during Covid. The response from Jenna on Instagram is the first time she’s commented on the situation, which was a huge talking point across social media over the weekend.

‘I needed time to process what happened’

Via her Instagram story, Jenna said: “I just wanted to check in with everyone really, just to let everyone know that I am okay. I know I’ve been really, really quiet over the last few days and it’s just because I needed time to process what had happened and what had been said on that podcast.

“I’ve been really upset and hurt about it, and angry. I didn’t want to say anything in the heat of the moment that I would regret, and I just needed to kind of sit with it for a bit. I figured I’ve got two options: I can either speak on it or ignore it and let it go away.

“But I don’t want to let these people get away with it and be able to do that to someone else in the future. I don’t think these people deserve any kind of platform. When I’m ready, I will speak on it.”

During the podcast, Thomas said: “She said ‘well I lost my dad’ and I thought ‘how am I supposed to fix this.’ So I was like ‘if he was here would you have him walk you down the aisle.” The podcast hosts all began to make jokes about Jenna’s late father as Thomas laughed along.

Thomas has since apologised for the comments he made about Jenna on the MAFS UK focussed podcast, saying: “I sincerely apologise for any offence I caused on the podcast. It wasn’t right and I did ask for it to be removed and it wasn’t. I take fully responsibility and honestly completely regret the situation and what I said.

“I am honestly so sorry for any pain caused to anyone. There’s no excuse. I was out of order massively. I will live eternally with regret.”
