TikTok is convinced Drake is moving into this £10m home in Hackney, so what’s going on?

The house has just sold and estate agents have said they’ve ‘never seen a house like it’

Right now, there is this theory going around TikTok that Drake is moving into a £10million house in Hackney. The rumours seem to have started in September, when a certain incredible mansion was listed with Hamptons estate agents.

Grant Bates, who held the listing for Hamptons, attracted a buyer through Instagram. Grant told The Tab the house was never really on the market, but he featured it around a year ago as a design feature piece online. “We filmed it as a bit of a design feature,” he said. “We only really showcased it on Instagram, and from there we got a few bites and a few people who wanted to buy it.”

Grant told us he then set the house price at £10million and there were multiple competing bids. The complete was around a month ago, and the house has sold for £9.15million. He’s obviously not confirmed who the mystery buyer is, unfortunately.

Rumours have then since began circulating that the buyer is Drake. It wouldn’t be too far-fetched to assume he’d want a house in Hackney, as Drake does have connections to east London.

In 2016 he made a surprise appearance on stage with Section Boyz at Village Underground in Shoreditch, and is also an executive producer for Netflix series Top Boy, filmed in and based around the area. He’s even openly spoken about wanting to move to east London before, so maybe now is his time?

Nick Verdi, head of sales at Savills east London, said he “wouldn’t be hugely surprised” if Drake was the buyer of the amazing home. “The sort who just wants to put their bags down and move straight into somewhere that’s turnkey ready is definitely a prominent type of buyer,” he said.

He added: “I’ve worked in east London for 18 years and I’ve never seen a house like that. I don’t actually think another one exists.”

The house has six bedrooms and six bathrooms, spread across three floors. It boasts a basement pool, a five-aside football pitch in the back garden, and in the basement there is also a cinema room, sauna, games area, bar and gym.

At the moment, it does all seem to be a hugely elaborate rumour. There are videos of people approaching the home trying to get a celeb spot, but it’s yet to actually happen. Other reports say the buyer could be a venture capitalist.

The Tab has reached out to Drake’s management for comment.
