Luca’s family releases statement after he’s accused of ‘controlling’ Gemma

The family of Love Island 2022 star, Luca Bish, has released a statement after he was accused of being controlling towards Gemma Owen, who he is coupled up with on the show.

This week, Luca admitted he had “fallen” for Gemma, and told her he is “obsessed” with her. He said there is no chance of his head being turned by anyone else walking into the villa, and people then accused him of being controlling, love bombing and showing red flags.

“Luca’s obsession with Gemma is honestly terrifying. Everything about him is a red flag. He negs, he’s insecure, his jealousy is scary and he’s always lurking,” someone posted. Another added: “Could you imagine how jealous and controlling Luca would be outside the villa when Gemma is under 24/7 CCTV.”

However, Luca’s family has since spoken out, defending him for candidly showing a man being aware of, and open with, his emotions. “Could not be more proud of our boy if we tried,” the Instagram post began. “Such a huge shame to see the stigma surrounding men being transparent with their emotions.. he’s expressed how into Gemma he is, and it’s taken as controlling?

“He’s THE funniest and most caring kid we know and we will forever be proud at how much he’s wearing his heart on his sleeve. He promised us he’d be his beautiful self and play no game, and he’s sticking to his word. You are making your family so proud our Luca. Thank you for all of the lovely messages #LEMMA ❤️”.

In the comments of the Instagram post, someone added: “Someone worship me like Luca worships Gemma pls”. Whoever is running fellow Islander Jacques’ Instagram account whilst he is in the villa commented under the post: “🙌❤️👏”.
