Her ex-husband is a guy called Ralph Brown, a former NFL player for the Arizona Cardinals from 2007 to 2009. The couple got married back in 2010 but separated two years later. Amanza and Ralph have two children together who they split custody of in the divorce. But things got weird a few years after they separated and Ralph mysteriously went missing.

When did Ralph go missing?

So Amanza Smith won sole custody of her two children in October 2021 following the disappearance of her ex-husband Ralph Brown in August 2019. She stated that ever since she got wind of Ralph vanishing, she had gone to a number of lengths to try and locate his whereabouts. While speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Amanza said: “He’s alive somewhere, because otherwise we would know. There’s so many people actively trying and there’s just no answer. It’s the most bizarre – heartbreaking for my kids, because it’s not just their dad. That whole side of the family has just disappeared.”

Ralph allegedly hadn’t been paying child support since 2015

In court papers obtained by The Sun, Amanza claimed Ralph had ran through his significant savings and retirement fund from the NFL and that he “has not been steadily and gainfully employed in any stable form.” The court papers continued: “As a result, he has not made a single payment of child support since before the judgement was entered in 2015.”

Ralph sent Amanza a cryptic email before he went missing

No one has heard from Ralph since he sent Amanza a cryptic email in the middle of filming season two of Selling Sunset. Amanza said: “He sent an email, and he said, ‘My situation isn’t good right now. I can’t financially take care of the children’ and that it’s ‘not safe for them to be with me. You need to keep them until my situation changes.'”

However the court papers obtained by The Sun go into more detail. The documents alleged in the email Ralph wrote, he said: “For the last few weeks I have not had any stability nor financially, to keep over my head for the kids. On Sunday a week ago today the kids and I slept in my car with no food, no water, and no restroom. I have exceeded my resources and no longer have a roof for the kids, not the ability to take care of them. It is not safe that the kids be with me.” Ralph apparently sent this email to Amanza on September 1 2019, which is the last time she heard from him.

Amanza believes her ex-husband is could come back

She explained how his sudden disappearance has left her children “devastated”. She ended the court filing: “If and when Ralph does come back, I need to be able to ensure that he is coming back into their lives in a good place and does not intend on abandoning them again. I have no desire to take custody away from him, except to protect our children.
