The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022 have been published today, with the University of Oxford retaining the top spot for the sixth consecutive year in a row.

The University of Cambridge was the only other UK uni to make it into the top ten that was dominated by universities from the USA.

Other top ten unis included California Institute of Technology, Harvard, Stanford, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Princeton.

The results were calculated by taking into account a range of factors: research, teaching, research influence, industry income and international outlook.

A spokesman for Times Higher Education told Mail Online: “In a year dominated by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the rankings reflect the vital role of universities in understanding and managing the crisis as a number of institutions see significant boosts in their citation scores.”
