The story behind *that* Potential Breakup Song TikTok is wholesome af

My stupid birthday

There is no escape from these women on TikTok right now. You’ve seen the one – five women who are clearly on a naughty white wine mummy trip miming along to the Potential Breakup Song by Aly and AJ. The miming is so poorly done and their out of time head bobbing could only be achieved by a middle-aged woman who has no idea of the song she’s dancing to or why her daughter is encouraging her so strongly to do it while laughing away. However, this clearly struck a chord with many as it’s been viewed nearly 50 million times.

But who are the five women that appear in the video? What do they do for work? What is the story behind why they were all together and decided to create such a video? Also, is that duet with the similar-looking kids actually their daughters? Here’s the answer to every question you have about the Potential Breakup Song TikTok.

What is the story behind the Potential Breakup Song TikTok video?

On October 10th, the above video was posted from the TikTok account of @miagillespiee, who happens to be the daughter of the first woman who appears in the video. As you can see, it shows the ladies lipsyncing to the Potential Breakup Song. It currently has nearly eight million likes and 50 million views.

According to Buzzfeed, Mia is a 19-year-old college student who was out for dinner with her mum, her childhood friends and their mums. The parents had come up to visit them at university in Illinois when they decided to whack out the cameras and get filming this ridiculous video, and it’s a good thing that they did because it has gone ASTRONOMICAL.

Then, three days later, the daughters took it upon themselves to film a duet video, which made people equally shook because they’re all literally spitting images of their parents:

There is certainly going to be a revival of this song just like we saw with Fleetwood Mac.

Who are the women in the Potential Breakup Song TikTokvideo?

Simply put, they’re all ordinary women doing ordinary things. However, since their viral hit, Mia Gillespie has almost dedicated her TikTok page to them and their families. So, what do we know about each of the ladies?
