| GRADUATION 🎓| Yesterday, I became a doctor amongst my wonderful fellow graduates. As I went along my years of medical school, which had its many ups and many downs, I eventually realised what kind of a medic I was. Throughout graduation day, there were just as many people that came to me saying, “I can’t wait to see what art you create or what you do next with that!.” As there were those congratulating me as a medic. And I LOVE that. I spent a few years feeling guilty for being a huge creative, until something clicked half way through Uni and ever since then I’ve felt very true to myself; clerking patients and putting in cannulas, then heading home to my room filled with art from my travels and paintbrushes in my mug filled with paint-water. I’m moving away and starting work on the surgical wards in just under 3 weeks (I start on night shifts, arrgh), and as I move I’m taking my drawers of all my art materials, a huge creative heart and a wonderful network of inspiring artists and creatives that I’m not quite sure how I managed to meet during my medical years but thank God I did! I feel like I’m going to have the most unconventional medical journey in the history of medical journies – buuuut that’s okay haha, because my goal of serving people and creativity requires a lot of pivots, adventures and risks. I am so excited to just get started with everthing, and as the cheesy saying goes, it isn’t going to be easy, it’s going to be worth it. Right, nowwww I’m going to go work on my canvas – I recently bought much better quality goache paint and it looks so much nicer, so I’m re-painting the whole thing!
