Spend a week with me as editor for The York Tab

Ft. The perks of being on committee

Ever wondered what it’s like being an editor for The York Tab? Each week is different from the last and can be chaotic, to say the least.

Applications for next year’s team are right around the corner… if this role appeals to you then consider writing for us ahead of next year!

Tuesday – Greg James Collab

The Tab week started off with the return of Greg James, this time during his Comic Relief bike ride. After much patience and persistence, the team managed to reunite with Greg once again, gaining an exclusive interview amid his fifth day cycling. There was an update on his promised Long Boi tattoo, in which he confirmed he’ll soon be returning to make it happen.

Campus was also busy this day with York SU elections, so of course the team went round campus to scope out candidates to ask about their manifestos.

Wednesday – Articles, articles, articles

Like most York students, Wednesday’s teaching ends around lunch time. That means plenty of time to read through, edit and publish all the writer’s articles as part of our team. The team posts multiple articles every week, ranging from fun features to breaking news around campus and throughout York.

A visit to Wednesday sport’s night might accidentally follow from all that hard work…

Friday – OffBeats collab

Oh we had a great time 🏝️ #loveisland #ciarandavies #flares #allstars

As one of the many partners The York Tab collabs with, last Friday was all about Love Islander Ciaran Davies, and his visit to Flares with OffBeat events. The Tab got all the gossip, including his thoughts on past islanders, life after the show, and what he plans to spend his money on after his alleged split with Sammy. (P.S. Follow our TikTok for the deets).

In true Tab style, we couldn’t end our night once Ciaran did, so naturally remained on the dance floor until we burned off all our energy.

Saturday

Last Saturday was the return of Astra Collective’s Fashion show: Equinox, themed as a transition from winter to spring. With front row seats, we got to witness the amazing styles designed by students and local artists. The sun gleaming on Heslington Hall made it an even more stunning experience.

After a much needed gyros from the Shambles Market, our next event was the opening of the Norman Rea Gallery’s 50th year anniversary. This exhibit included amazing art and textiles from students, some even on sale. What better way to spend a sunny day in York than with a fashion show followed by an art exhibition?

Sunday

After a busy week, Sunday was a much needed rest for the team, keeping it chill with some editing besides last night’s kebab.
