Erika Kirk and Candace Owens’ historic beef explained, after dramatic four hour meeting
They’ve been back and forth on socials
Erika Kirk and Candace Owens just had a meeting after a month of going back and forth on social media, so here’s their chaotic beef explained.
Pre-2025: Friendship through Charlie Kirk
Before Erika met Charlie, Candace Owens had a close friendship with the political commentator. In the early days of Turning Point USA, Charlie and Candace would take road trips to campuses across America, spreading conservative values and debating students. This lasted from 2017 to 2019.

Erika and Charlie first met in 2018. During this time, Candace was very supportive of their relationship and even plotted with Charlie on how to convince her to marry him. The two women followed each other on Instagram, and although they didn’t have a public-facing relationship, things seemed to be friendly between them.
September 2025: Candace and Erika’s different reactions to Charlie Kirk’s assassination
After Charlie Kirk’s assassination in September, Erika and Candace had very public reactions. On her podcast, Candace Owens started to spread conspiracy theories on Charlie’s death, speculating that it was an inside job or had something to do with foreign officials, all claims with no actual evidence. She even started pointing fingers at other conservative politicians, which made things tense between her and Turning Point USA.
Erika became the new CEO of Turning Point and didn’t publicly acknowledge the conspiracies Candace was sharing.
Early December 2025: Things start to get messy between Erika and Candace
Then, Candace started to directly speak out against Turning Point on her X account.
“It is a positively ABSURD notion that you cannot critique a 150 million dollar organisation because the CEO says they are like a family, and are grieving,” Owens railed on X.

“It is the exact same emotional strategy deployed by BLM in the wake of George Floyd’s death, when I called out their shady financial dealings.”
When asked how she felt about Candace Owens’ comments at a CBS Town Hall, Erika said: “Stop, that’s it. That’s all I have to say. Stop.”
Late December 2025: They have a meeting to sort things out
After things got heated over socials, Erika made an announcement to her followers on X.
“Candace Owens and I are meeting for a private, in-person discussion on Monday, December 15. @RealCandaceO and I have agreed that public discussions, livestreams, and tweets are on hold until after this meeting. I look forward to a productive conversation. Thank you,” Erika wrote.

The meeting lasted four and a half hours. Afterwards, Candace tweeted an update.
“We agreed much more than I had anticipated. Of course, we also disagreed on various points and people as well. Most importantly, we were able to share intel and clarify intent.”
“I will of course have a full rundown for you all tomorrow as I am currently exhausted, but I wanted to quickly let you guys know that absolutely nothing was held back and the immediate result was that tensions were thawed,” Owens said.
