Two Durham University graduates are featuring in The Celebrity Traitors
Some Aidan’s representation at long last…
Durham alumni have gone on to do all sorts of wild and wonderful things.
According to new research, loads of graduates end up working as CEOs, and we’ve even had our fair share of alumni elected to the UK Parliament.
But you might be surprised to find out that two graduates have actually been gracing your screens every Wednesday and Thursday this month, hanging around with the likes of Claudia Winkleman, Paloma Faith and Stephen Fry.
That’s right, two Durham alumni are currently being aired on BBC iPlayer as part of this year’s special edition series: The Celebrity Traitors.
The first of those is actor, comedian, and writer Nick Mohammed – best known for his wonderfully unhinged alter ego Mr Swallow – who once studied geophysics at Durham University.
While at Durham, Nick played violin in the university orchestra and performed regularly on the student comedy circuit. He famously turned down an offer from Cambridge to join St Aidan’s College, graduating in 2003 before later returning to Cambridge to pursue a PhD.
Since then, Nick has built an impressive career across television and stage, and he’s currently appearing on our screens as a faithful. I could’ve called that casting though; a scientific analysis by The Durham Tab on how colleges would fare in The Traitors has already explained Aidan’s students would go far as faithfuls.
Another Durham graduate, Ed Gamble, has been appearing on the companion programme The Celebrity Traitors Uncloaked, which interviews the casts and offers analysis after each episode.
Ed studied philosophy at Hatfield College and performed comedy while at uni, going on to have a successful career in broadcast, working as a podcast host and doing stand-up.
