‘It was terrifying for everybody’
Police are reported to have said: “He was next to an emergency door, and trying to open it. It was terrifying for everybody else on the flight. The pilot had no other option except to land the plane.”
The man was removed from the plane, but his blood alcohol level was so high it was a “number of hours” before he was in a state to be spoken to. It was added: “He was very drunk and taken to a Border Police cell to sober up.”
Four others were removed, but it’s not yet clear if they face any charges. It has been confirmed that once the group were off the plane, it took off again to fly to its original end destination.
