Ranked: The Russell Group unis where grads are most likely to make millions in tech

Finding a grad job after university is tough. Finding a grad job with a decent salary is tougher. But one thing always seems for sure: If you work in tech, you’ll be doing alright. New data has shown the Russell Group universities where grads go on to thrive in the tech industry, just in case you want to save this for reference.

Adobe Express set out to rank the most innovative cities across the UK and Europe. It put together research that analyses key factors including university rankings, and tech jobs per 100,000 people. Therefore, creating a full ranking of the best places to study, should you want to grab a lucrative tech job afterwards. Here’s what was found.

8. University of Nottingham

Kicking us off is Nottingham. Notts ranks well in overall world rankings. Plus, the data looked at the number of job postings on Glassdoor containing “technology”, per 100,000 population, and Notts had 74.4.

7. University of Warwick

Warwick is next, with an overall score of 40. Per 100,000 people in the area, there were 59.5 job listings that mentioned tech.

6. University of Edinburgh

Edi just missed out on a top five spot, with an overall score of 41.32. As we all know, Edinburgh ranks high in all university rankings. This, plus an abundance of available tech jobs, helped with its high score.

5. University of Leeds

Up next is Leeds, which might vary in its uni ranking positions, but always seems to have a high number of tech jobs available. Per 100,000 people, 85 listings mentioned tech.

4. University of Manchester

With the highest percentage of tech jobs in the ranking (187.9 per 100,000) Manchester stole the fourth spot. It scored 50.02 overall, which reflects the city’s reputation as a hotspot for digital innovation.

3. University of Bristol

Bristol ranked third on the list of the UK’s most innovative cities. With 144.6 tech jobs per 100,000, and a university which is ranked 54th worldwide, the city is a hotspot for talent.

2. University of Southampton

Next up is Southampton, a city with a much smaller population – but a great selection of tech jobs. Southampton had an impressive 72.9 tech jobs per 100,000 people. Soton also ranks well in overall uni rankings, which boosted its innovation score.

1. Imperial College London

London ranked in first position for the UK, with an overall score of 74.29, and over 57 per cent of local job listings being in tech. Surprise! If you want a tech job, the City is the place to be.
