The five huge details Amy Bradley Is Missing on Netflix missed out about the case

There was so much more to what happened

Three-part Netflix documentary series Amy Bradley Is Missing delves deep into the missing persons case – but it turns out a few crucial details were missed out. There were some very important parts of the case that Netflix didn’t mention.

In March 1998, Amy Bradley went missing. She had been on a family holiday on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. She was last seen in the early hours, at the club on board. Amy and her brother Brad then headed back to the family cabin, and Amy went out to the balcony. When her father Ron went to check on her in the morning, Amy was no longer there. To this day, nobody knows what happened to her.

Here are all the details the Netflix documentary Amy Bradley Is Missing missed out about the case.

One of the last people to see Amy Bradley alive was bass player, Alister “Yellow” Douglas. Footage showed the two of them hanging out in the club on board the ship, in the early hours of the day she went missing.

Yellow has always denied any involvement in Amy’s disappearance, but there is one detail that the Netflix documentary left out about him. During an episode of Unsolved Mysteries, it was said that Amy’s brother Brad claimed Yellow had come up to him on the pool deck shortly after Amy disappeared. Yellow said: “Hey man, I’m sorry to hear about your sister.”

At the time, apparently only the captain and the Bradley family knew about her disappearance and no announcement had been made yet.

A jawbone washed up on a shore near where Amy went missing

Another huge detail missed out of Netflix series Amy Bradley Is Missing is that a jawbone washed up on shore near where Amy Bradley was last seen. In 2010, local authorities discovered a jawbone that washed up on a beach in Aruba. It was believed to belong to a Caucasian.

There was another missing persons case around the same time as this discovery, and that was 18-year-old Natalee Holloway. The jawbone was tested and found to not belong to Natalee, but no such testing was carried out to see if it belonged to Amy Bradley.

The Bradley family were scammed out of $200k during their search

During their search, the Bradley family were scammed out of $200k by someone who claimed he could help them find Amy. Frank Jones, a self-professed former US Navy Seal, emailed the family in 1999. He said he knew a team of former Navy Seals and Army Rangers, and they could “bring Amy home” from Curaçao, which is one of the places the Bradley family have said they think Amy might be.

Jones then sent fake photos to the family, and claimed his men had seen her multiple times. In 2002, he was sentenced to five years in prison for mail fraud. He took $24,444 of the family’s personal savings, and $186,416 from a fund set up by a missing persons charity.

The Bradley family lied in court, and their lawsuit was dismissed

At the end of Amy Bradley Is Missing on Netflix, a lawsuit is mentioned. But, the documentary series then ended, and no context to a court case is given. In 1999, the Bradleys filed two lawsuits against Royal Caribbean. As per Travel Weekly, they sought damages for alleged negligence, defamation and intentional emotional damage.

But, in 2000, they were both dismissed. What was a big part of the lawsuits being dismissed was that it was found the Bradley family had lied in court. A judge called out the family for making “numerous exaggerated claims”.

The judge is reported to have found the Bradleys failed to disclose contact with witnesses who contradicted their claims that Amy had been taken from the ship against her will.

Amy Bradley was declared dead in 2010

Despite no conclusion being made about what might have happened to her, Amy was declared legally dead in March 2010. But, she remains on the FBI’s most wanting missing persons list.
