Police drop investigation into Emma Watson’s ‘stalker’ after his alleged deportation
Chad Michael Busto was arrested last year after demanding to see the Harry Potter star
Police have dropped their investigation into Emma Watson’s supposed “stalker” after he was allegedly deported from the UK.
The suspected stalker, Chad Michael Busto, 45, was arrested in June 2024 for demanding to see the Harry Potter star.
Busto, an American national, said he had been trying to “connect” with the actress after he flew over to the UK with only a sleeping bag and £800.
He then allegedly visited Oxford University’s English department to “gain information” about Emma, who studies creative writing there.
However, police were called to the scene after locals heard him asking questions about the actress, and he was later released under investigation.
The Sun reports that Thames Valley Police has now confirmed they have dropped their probe into Busto. They said there will be “no further action taken”, with sources saying the man is no longer in the UK.
Following the incident, Busto was taken to Colnbrook Immigration Centre, near Heathrow.
He told The Sun at the time: “I was arrested in a square close to a Starbucks. I would have tried to talk to her about the big case that I have won.
“They are illegally detaining me and I have no idea when I’ll be allowed to leave. Police have my possessions. I’m on the run, there’s a danger to my life.”
Additionally, in 2023, Busto had been arrested back for bursting into a New York fashion show dressing room and shouting he wanted to marry Emma.
A previous arrest had also been made for the alleged stalking of actress and talk show host Drew Barrymore.

In other news, Emma was banned from driving this week after speeding in Oxford. The Master’s student plead guilty to driving at 38mph in a 30mph zone on Banbury Road, after an automatic camera caught her in July last year.
