Singer of viral TikTok hit Pretty Little Baby dies following short illness
‘I know that Connie would approve that her fans are among the first to learn of this sad news’
Pretty Little Baby singer, Connie Francis, has died following a short illness.
Her death was announced by longtime friend Ron Roberts, who said: “It is with a heavy heart and extreme sadness that i inform you of the passing of my dear friend Connie Francis last night. I know that Connie would approve that her fans are among the first to learn of this sad news.”
Earlier this month, Connie was hospitalised and placed into intensive care, causing her to pull out of an Independence Day (4th July) performance.
It had also been reported that the 87-year-old had been suffering with “extreme pain” in her pelvic area and was using a wheelchair. However, despite her health problems, the famed singer provided her fans with a health update, thanking them for their support.
“Today I am feeling much better after a good night, and wanted to take this opportunity of wishing you all a happy Fourth of July,” she said.
Recently, Connie was thrust back into the spotlight after her iconic hit went viral on TikTok.
She created the song in 1962, and due to its recent popularity, it has so far received over 74 million streams on Spotify.
Connie spoke to People about her song’s resurgence, saying she’d forgotten about it: “To tell you the truth, I didn’t even remember the song. I had to listen to it to remember.
“To think that a song I recorded 63 years ago is touching the hearts of millions of people is truly awesome. It is an amazing feeling.”
