Parent slammed after child keeps plane awake with light-up hat on busy night flight

People are slamming a parent for letting their child wear a light-up hat on a dark night flight and keeping passengers around them awake.

The video was filmed and posted by someone on TikTok called Male Castellon in 2023 and has had over 8.1 million views, but it’s suddenly gone viral all over again years later.

In the clip, the plane passenger pans around the flight showing that everyone on the night flight is awake even though the lights are all switched off.

As she turns the camera around, there’s a kid wearing a furry white rabbit hat with ears that light up vividly in bright rainbow colours.

The hat is literally illuminating that whole section of the plane and keeping everyone awake. You’d be able to see it right from the back of the cabin!

People are furious in the comments, with one person writing: “I would lose my mind.”

“Sick of people who don’t control their children in public spaces,” said another.

A third person added: “Imagine trying to sleep and all of a sudden the plane turns into a rave.”

“Nah it bothers me when people have the small reading light on. This would drive me INSANE,” someone else commented.

Some are concerned that the hat could actually be a health risk for people who get seizures from bright lights, while others said it would trigger their migraines.

A flight attendant has even responded to the video, saying they would immediately tell the parent to put the hat away if this happened on one of their flights.

“As a flight attendant, I’d say put that away. There are people trying to rest, read, watch a movie. Also, there are people with disabilities, and this can be incredibly annoying and irritating for them,” they said.

“Leave stuff like this for home or amusement parks. Not in a tiny tin can at 30,000ft in the air. Some folks have sensitive eyes, please consider others around you.”
