Kanye West has changed his name again, and wait until you hear what to

Not this again

It all went quiet from Kanye West for a while, but now he’s back with another name change. Yes, another one.

The rapper started going by “Ye” in 2018 because it’s the most commonly used word in the Bible, meaning “you”. He then legally changed it three years later, in 2021.

“I believe ‘Ye’ is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible it means you. So it’s I’m you, I’m us, it’s us,” he told radio host Big Boy in a 2018 interview.

“It went from being Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confused, our everything.”

Now, he’s changed his name for a second time, although the 48-year-old hasn’t publicly announced it yet.

Page Six obtained business documents filed by the rapper’s chief financial officer, Hussain Lalani, in California, and his name is clearly listed as “Ye Ye”.

This includes documents relating to his businesses Yeezy Apparel, Yeezy Record Label LLC and Getting Out Our Dreams Inc.

Previously, his paperwork was always filed under the name “Ye West,” but he’s now added a second “Ye” onto his name.

Seems a bit pointless to change your name from “Ye” to “Ye Ye” if you ask me, but this is Kanye we’re talking about. Sorry, I mean “Ye Ye”.

In March 2024, the rapper’s chief of staff, far-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos, demanded that people start referring to Kanye as “Ye” instead of his “slave name” in a letter.

“He didn’t take the decision to change his name, potentially sacrificing some of the immense value captured by the brand of ‘Kanye West,’ lightly,” Yiannopoulos wrote.

“The change was made fully, legally, and permanently. This is who he is now. His name is Ye,” he continued. However, he will always be Kanye to most people.
