Everything we know about the huge twists coming our way in Love Island 2025
No past Islanders are coming back (thankfully)
In the trailer for Love Island 2025, the presenter Maya Jama promised “more drama, more bombshells, more break-ups, more make-ups” and “more twists that ever”. So, what exactly did she mean? How is Love Island this year going to be any different to all the previous years? Here’s a handy rundown of all the twists we know about for Love Island 2025. Um, how many hours left until Love Island starts?
No former Islanders will be wheeled out, for once
According to the DailyMail, the producers won’t send any former Islanders or any reality TV stars into the villa to shake things up. Wow, if Casey’s not careful he’ll only be on Love Island the once this year!
Wait, we’ll see more of the Islanders sleeping together?
Not only will the hideaway be open all day and night for Islanders who aren’t coupled up, but we’re actually going to see whatever couples get up to in there. Since 2020, Love Island hasn’t actually shown any sex on TV. Instead, Iain Stirling alludes to whatever the Islanders have got up to, then we all move on. But that’s all going to change this year.
The executive producer Mike Spencer told the Mirror: “If sex happens, we’ll show it. The Hideaway will be open 24 hours.
“We need to keep the show fresh and exciting. After 10 years, the stats speak for themselves. The show will continue to thrive. We the producers need to stay ahead of the curve. The whole ‘twists and turns’ thing is about making the show fresh. We’re going to give it all we’ve got.”

The hideaway was open 24 hours a day last year, but couples didn’t really maximise this opportunity. But it sounds like the Love Island team are eager to make the hideaway more of a feature this year.
Maya Jama told the Mirror: “I feel like they forgot last year that you could come in the Hideaway at any time. We did tell them, but they kept forgetting!”
The villa layout has been redesigned to optimise drama
This is a very niche kind of interior design. A giant trampoline bed has been suspended above the pool. Apparently it can take the weight of four people… bouncing around. The producers hope the bed will encourage Islanders to engage in threesomes.
The walls around the terrace are shorter and have more gaps in, so couples can’t hide up there like they usually do. Beanbags have also been banned to make the villa look “more sophisticated”. Shame.
Apparently the way Islanders couple up is changing?
In the very fist episode, the Islanders will apparently pair up in a whole new way. Does this mean we won’t vote on the app anymore for who we think should get together?

“There will be things happening for the first couple of days we’ve not done before,” Mike Spencer told RadioTimes.com “And certainly in week one. During that week, there’s something incredibly big we’ve never done before. Hopefully we can do it and pull it off.”
We will see the Islanders gossip while they eat
We usually only see the Islanders eat if they’ve made vile-looking breakfast for each other. At mealtimes, Islanders were separated into groups of boys and girls and are banned from talking about anything interesting. The production team used these times to charge up the microphones and remind the Islanders of things like laundry.
However, this year we will actually see the Islanders eat, and hopefully gossip while they do it. I’m so curious to see what’s on the menu. Hopefully the mealtimes will have the same energy as MAFS dinner parties?
