The biggest Eurovision songs ever, according to their massive number of Spotify streams

Abba isn’t even in the top five

Eurovision came and went this year, with it being the least watched in years here in the UK – which mostly can be attributed to the fact that a certain country’s inclusion is well and truly souring the proceedings. And whilst we are slowly sort of turning our back on Eurovision since the best year ever (Liverpool 2023, obvs) it’s always interesting seeing what the most popular and biggest Eurovision songs ever are – so here’s the top 10, as per their whopping streams on Spotify.

10. Euphoria by Loreen (2012) – 148 million streams

The song that changed Eurovision forever and made winners of the contest not only popular in the circles who love the show, but in clubs worldwide. What a hit. If this came out after the streaming era hit its stride I’d reckon it would be near the top.

9. Heroes by Måns Zelmerlöw (2015) – 167 million streams

One of Sweden’s many, many high performing bangers in the Eurovision catalogue. It won Eurovision in 2015.

8. Queen of Kings by Alessandra (2023) – 196 million streams

Representing Norway in 2023 was Alessandra with her very dramatic and high camp Queen of Kings – a storming banger paying tribute to Norewegian heritage. Aka, it’s all very Viking-y. Safe to say I’ve contributed to many of these streams.

7. Soldi by Mahmood (2019) – 256 million streams

Italian 2019 entry Soldi saw Mahmood place second in the contest and honestly, it should have won. Legitimately the coolest and freshest any Eurovision song has ever sounded

6. Waterloo by Abba (1974) – 411 million streams

Yeah fair play, huge song from the 70s and arguably the most famous winner ever from the show’s biggest group success. The streams literally speak for themselves, one of the biggest Eurovision songs ever and we all know why! Sweden stays winning.

5. Fairytale by Alexander Rybak (2009) – 448 million streams

Norway’s second entry into the top 10 biggest Eurovision songs as per Spotify streams, and how this one beats out some classics is beyond me. It’s crap. Apologies to Norway!

4. Zitti E Buoni by Måneskin (2021) – 538 million streams

When Måneskin won in 2021 I genuinely think the force of Damiano David turned the tides of making Eurovision cool again. Truly an amazing song that launched the band beyond being Eurovision successes into artists that the industry took very seriously and even managed to crack America.

3. Tattoo by Loreen (2023) – 722 million streams

You simply have to give it to her, the first ever double winner of Eurovision and another victory for Sweden. In case you aren’t counting, that makes Sweden take up four spots in this list so far. An impressive feat. I love Euphoria more, but Tattoo is a worthy sequel.

2. Snap by Rosa Linn (2022) – 1.2 billion streams

In second place and the first Eurovision song to hit the billion mark on this ranking is Rosa Linn’s Snap – a song that proves there you finish in the competition is certainly not what always matters. Rosa finished 20th for Armenia in 2022, but thanks to the power of TikTok this (mid) song became a huge global hit.

1. Arcade by Duncan Laurence (2019) – 1.3 billion streams

The first big viral hit from Eurovision was Netherlands’ winning entry in 2019, which beat Soldi to the top spot in the competition and in this rundown of the most streamed. Duncan Laurence proved why he won when this became one of the show’s biggest ever hits and never shows signs of slowing down in popularity. I bet he thanks TikTok before bed every night honestly.
