The staggering amount Diddy paid to settle Cassie’s 2023 lawsuit, and why she accepted it

It’s truly eye-watering

Singer Cassie is in court this week to testify against Diddy in his sex trafficking trial, and she has revealed the staggering amount he paid her to settle a lawsuit she filed against him in 2023.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs dated Cassie Ventura on and off for 11 years from 2007 to 2018, and she has accused him of physical abuse, claiming he would “frequently” assault her and force her onto “freak off” parties.

The rapper was arrested in September 2024 and is facing charges of racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution, the BBC reports. He has denied all the charges.

In the courtroom on Tuesday (14th May), Cassie revealed that the 55-year-old paid her a massive $20 million to settle her lawsuit, the New York Times reveals. On November 16, 2023, she sued him for allegedly trafficking, sexually assaulting and physically abusing her.

The lawsuit alleged that Diddy is a “serial domestic abuser, who would regularly beat and kick Ms Ventura, leaving black eyes, bruises, and blood” and accused him of “plying the vulnerable Ms Ventura with drugs and alcohol, causing her to fall into dangerous addictions that controlled her life”.

She accepted the payout on November 17, just one day after it was filed. On the stand, Cassie explained why she accepted the offer so quickly, saying she simply wanted to get some compensation for everything he put her through.

“I wanted to be compensated for the time and the pain and the many, many years of having to try to fix my life,” she revealed.

At the time, the singer released a statement via her lawyer: “I have decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control. I want to thank my family, fans and lawyers for their unwavering support.”

Diddy then released his own statement, adding: “We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie and her family all the best.”
