Here’s everything you can expect at Nottingham’s Splendour Festival this year

Trust us – this is one for the calendar

Splendour, the notorious Notts festival, will be held at Wollaton Park between the 19th and 20th July.

This year, they’re introducing three brand new stages – The Bodega Stage, Dance Stage and Day Fever Stage. Plus, more than 25 new acts have joined the bill including; Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs, Travis and Jake Bugg. It is not one to be missed!

The Bodega Stage, renowned for showcasing national, upcoming talent and giving emerging artists the chance to take the stage and share their music, was shortlisted for the Grassroot Venue of the Year at the LIVE Awards. More recently, at the end of February, it was named a finalist in the equivalent Music Week Awards category.

The Dance Stage features Trevor Nelson’s Soul Nation partnered with Shola Ama, with many others taking up residence on Saturday. On Sunday, we’ll also see Hedkandi DJs alongside their founder, Mark Doyle, Sax and Percussion celebrating 25 years of the global dance brand.

Day Fever boasts three day time clubbing scene creators – Vicky McClure, Johnny Owen and Reverend and the Makers’ Jon McClure will be on the decks. They’ll also be inviting along some of their friends to join them over the weekend, so expect a surprise!

Back for its second year, On The Hill returns providing an electric DJ lineup, guaranteeing something for everyone to dance to – from Drum and Bass, Taylor Swift anthems, Indie Sleeze classics and a nod to Rock City in the 90s amongst lots more.

Between the sets there is loads to get stuck into, with two circus tents, a cabaret bar, an independent market, the fairground and the return of the popular silent disco. Not forgetting the Comedy Stage, offering plenty of performing acts across both days, guaranteed to have you in stitches!

To fit a younger demographic, there will be workshops and games for children running throughout the weekend at the Little Splendours children’s area. With under 11s eligible for free entry.

The festival is also partnered with Nottingham Trent University, whose students will be helping make Splendour an even more incredible event.

Michael Marsden, Executive Dean of NTU’s School of Art and Design, highlighted the positive impact of this collaboration, stating: “As a university that’s recognised for providing its students with real-world work experience, it’s great to see Splendour return to Nottingham; allowing our students to put what they’re taught into practice.”
