
Man accused of seriously injuring two women in Leeds’ Otley Run crossbow attack dies
The suspect has now been named as 38-year-old Owen Lawrence
The lead suspect accused of seriously injuring two women in Leeds’ Otley Run crossbow attack has died.
The suspect, named as Owen Lawrence, was being investigated by counter terrorism police after being seen in Headingley with potential weapons.
He was detained on Saturday under suspicion of being involved in the attack in Leeds which involved a crossbow and a firearm.
Two women were seriously injured in the attack, with one needing surgery for her injuries. They have not yet been named.
Owen Lawrence, 38, is from Headingley and was said to have sustained a self inflicted wound.
A statement by West Yorkshire Police is as follows: “We can confirm that the 38-year-old man who was arrested and taken to hospital on Saturday with a self-inflicted injury, has died.
“This man was the key suspect and we can name him as Owen Lawrence from Headingley, Leeds.
“We believe he was acting on his own and are not currently seeking anyone else in connection with this matter.
“Counter Terrorism Policing North East will continue to conduct a thorough and extensive investigation to establish the facts and circumstances around the incident.
“A file will be compiled and passed to the coroner.”
