Is MAFS’ Clint actually good at golf? Exposing his most embarrassing moment at top tournament
I would have binned my golf clubs in shame, but that’s just me
MAFS Australia groom Clint Rice claims to be a retired professional golfer, but just how good is his swing, and is it at least better than his relationship skills?
Clint strolled into the MAFS experiment as the second husband of Lauren Hall. That marriage went about as well as Lauren’s first with Eliot Donovan, and he’s since moved on to jarring Jacqui Burfoot. Clint made his millions by starting and then selling a sports equipment company, but long before he was in the boardroom, Clint was on the golf course.
Before MAFS, Clint bombed at a top tournament
Back in 2015, Clint attended the US Open, where he was lucky enough to be placed as one of the top alternates, meaning he had a chance to play if a spot became available. Practising his swing in case the moment came, he took to the course with US Open champion and fellow Aussie Geoff Ogilvy.
Unfortunately, a USGA official soon approached him and confiscated his clubs for breaking the rules. You see, while alternates are able to take full advantage of the practice facilities, they are not allowed to play on the actual course unless explicitly told so by those running the event.
Clint was forced to walk around the rest of the course clubless with his friend, who told the Sydney Morning Herald that Clint’s removal was unfair.

He said: “It’s a bit silly if you’re not holding anybody up or interfering with their practice. I’d get it if there were no spots available for players in the field, but that wasn’t the case here. I get where the USGA is coming from, but surely the top few alternates should be able to play. What happens if he gets in on Thursday and hasn’t seen the course? He effectively has his chances limited.”
Okay, but was Clint actually decent at the game?
When entering the MAFS Australia experiment, Clint was pegged as a former professional golfer and NOT a businessman, which is his current job. This might lead one to believe he was basically Australia’s Tiger Woods, but that just wasn’t the case. At the time, he was ranked number 1188 in the world, and his best position was 866.
According to the PGA, Clint competed in the Canadian PGA tour from 2008 to 2013.
In 2008, Clint played nine events and was placed in the top 25 twice and the top 10 once. He played four events in 2009, placing in the top 25 twice and the top 10 once. Clint then had a slightly less successful year in 2010, finding himself in the top 25 once and the top 10 once across six games.
Clint played an impressive eight games during 2011’s Canadian PGA tour, and while he wasn’t in the top 10 at all, he did land in the top 25 twice. In 2012 and 2013, Clint played three and two events, respectively, and didn’t place at all.
Across the six years, he made roughly $43,221 off the Canadian PGA tour.
