What to do on Warwick campus over Easter: A guide

Staying behind this Easter? Here’s what to do on campus so you don’t go insane

Whether your flatmates have all fled home for Easter and you don’t fancy heading back or you’re just not about that expensive plane ticket life, staying on campus over the break can feel a bit like being the last one left at a house party (but the house is uni and the party is academic suffering). Being on campus over Easter doesn’t have to feel like academic exile.

Put on your headphones, romanticise the emptiness, and make Easter break your best era yet. Here’s your ultimate guide to making the most of campus life when everyone is away.

1. Take a stroll through Tocil Woods to romanticise your life

The air smells (almost) like spring, the daffodils are blooming, and the ducks have returned. Put on a Lana Del Rey playlist, get an iced coffee from Pret that’s definitely not in your budget for the week, and take a stroll if your serotonin levels are low. If you record it on TikTok and caption it with “Easter break vibes” you’ll get bonus points.

2. Study… but make it cosy

Because capitalism and uni deadlines never sleep, the library will remain open, so if you have to endure the tedious process of revision or dissertation work, make it tolerable. Choose a location that receives plenty of natural light, pack some snacks, put on your cosiest hoodie, and act like the lead in a sombre academic movie. Or maybe head to Rootes Learning Grid to feel productive while doing the absolute bare minimum.

3. Become a Leamington local for the day

Put on your sad girl playlist, hop on the U1, and pretend to be the main character as you romanticise your trip to Leam. Start by perusing the charity shops, which are brimming with treasures you’ll be able to convince yourself are vintage. After that, have a matcha at one of those cafés that have oat milk and plants hanging from the ceiling—you know the vibe.

You can journal, read a book, or just gaze out the window. Imagine that you are in your healing phase as you take a leisurely walk through Jephson Gardens. Post a photo dump later with a bunch of aesthetically curated emojis and the caption “soft girl spring” and call it a day.

4. Movie night in your kitchen (even if you’re the only one there)

Convert your vacant flat’s kitchen into a home cinema. Make popcorn, bring your duvet, and tune in to something nostalgic. Bonus points for figuring out which of your roommates most likely left that partially consumed Easter egg in the fridge and some not so fresh looking fruit.

5. Join in with campus events or society things still happening

Lots of societies still host fun events during the break; you can usually tell by looking at SU or society specific Instagram Stories. It’s worth attending, whether it’s for a game night, a picnic, or just a coffee conversation . The worst situation? Free snacks. The best scenario? New acquaintances, or at the very least, someone to chat to besides your Deliveroo driver.
