Urgent warning issued over fake MDMA in Manchester
Harm reduction group MANDRAKE have urged caution over ‘beige powder’
Manchester Drug Analysis and Knowledge Exchange (MANDRAKE) have issued urgent warnings over “multiple samples” of a “beige powder” that have been suspected to be “mis-sold” as MDMA.
The drug harm reduction group, based out of Manchester Metropolitan University, has confirmed that the powder contains synthetic cathinone, a substance chemically similar to amphetamines.
Whilst the substance is found in the plant commonly known as Khat, not much is known about its use. MANDRAKE has cautioned that it has been implicated with fatalities.
