Calling all aspiring writers! The Durham Tab is looking for students to join our team

Our open meeting is at TONIGHT at The Library Bar on February 18th at 6pm

Are you an aspiring journalist? Do you just love writing? Do you want to take up a new hobby or passion this semester? The Durham Tab is looking for new writers! Come and join our 2025 team.

If you are interested in breaking the biggest news stories on campus, writing the most witty feature pieces, or even making trending TikToks (all whilst improving your CV), then come along to our open meeting in February.

We are holding an open meeting TONIGHT (18th February) at The Library Bar at 6:00pm

The Tab Durham is interested in new student writers to join our team!

Here is a quick rundown of everything you need to know:

What is The Durham Tab?

The Tab is a student news site with over six million monthly readers. If you are looking to get your name out there, you’re in luck!

The Tab features a huge variety of content that allows everyone to write what they are passionate about and branch out into new writing styles. Members can cover breaking news stories that can quickly be circulated around Durham.

If that doesn’t sound like your thing? No worries! Our features are the perfect chance to write about the aspects of Durham like the best day trips, the origins of college traditions or any of the numerous sports events the university has.

Why should I get involved?

You can write about a range of things that interest you, including how to incorporate the latest fashion trends into your Durham wardrobe, or this piece revealing the truth about the banging spoon tradition at Hatfield College.

We also cover big and breaking news stories like this piece on Durham University withdrawing offers over a racist group chat, or photos of a student dressing as P Diddy for Halloween.

We also have our social media team who post on TikTok and Instagram and would welcome any ideas for campaigns you might have!

The Durham Tab has so many opportunities for students to get their work published and our dedicated editorial team and Assistant Editor at HQ will ensure you are supported and enjoy your time writing for us.

We will be holding an open meeting at The Library Bar on the 18th February at 6pm. The Durham Tab welcomes everyone regardless of experience and we really encourage you to talk to us at our open meeting whether it is to pitch article ideas, get to know the team or better understand the work you can do – we will be happy to see you there!
