All the Children’s Book Festival events happening this weekend at Lincoln University’s SU
You don’t need to be a child to enjoy these activities
The first Children’s Book Festival presented by Waterstones is happening in Lincoln from Friday 14th to Sunday 16th February 2025.
Events are taking place around the city, in the Waterstones store and our very own SU. The Engine Shed will host famous authors from Jaqueline Wilson to Alice Oseman, the creator of Heartstopper. There is no reason why we can’t take part in this new festival that is on our university doorstep. So, here is a run-down of what and who you can find in The Engine Shed this weekend.

Friday is a quieter one at the SU but if you’re free in the evening, The Engine Shed has a treat for you!
At 5pm, A. F. Steadman, author of the Skandar series, will be discussing her work and answering questions about her writing. Tickets are required but only cost £9. A bargain for any Skandar fan.
Saturday 15th February
There’s lots to enjoy on Saturday, so here’s a timetable of what to expect. The 10am, 12:30pm, and 3pm sessions are all £9 each.
10am: Comic writers, Jamie Smart and Neill Cameron, are teaching us how to create our own characters. This is perfect for any aspiring artists.
12:30pm: Bestselling author Jaqueline Wilson will be in The Engine Shed discussing her writing career and the paperback release of The Girl Who Wasn’t There. This event offers the opportunity for young writers to ask an award-winning author about their writing. Honestly, my childhood dreams are coming true right now.
