Kanye West loses $20 million deal to play in Japan as a result of controversial Grammys stunt
‘The stunt was creepy beyond belief and has been greeted with horror in Japan’
It seems actions really do have consequences after Kanye West reportedly lost a $20 million deal to play in Tokyo as a result of his controversial stunt involving Bianca Censori at the Grammys.
According to the Daily Mail, Kanye West had signed a contract to play two shows at the Tokyo Dome in May, but his investors were “extremely upset” by what he did at the Grammys and will most likely “pull the funding for the shows.”
A source claimed: “Kanye is just f***ing up every opportunity that comes to him. The stunt was creepy beyond belief and has been greeted with horror in Japan.”
They added: “Japan is having a cultural awakening about women’s rights and the MeToo movement is really strong here. What he did is being seen as an act of coercive control which is utterly unacceptable. He has completely culturally misjudged Japan.”
Whilst Kanye has apparently been living in a hotel in Japan for almost a year now, he’s reportedly now “not welcome” in the country anymore, with the source continuing: “The investors in Japan who are backing the concerts are extremely upset by this. It is highly likely that they will pull the funding for the shows.
“He has greatly misjudged the tolerance of the Japanese people towards these activities. He’s just not welcome any more. This will be a big blow for him because he has been living in Japan for around a year now, almost full time, and I guess he did not see this coming.”
The American colleagues of Kanye West are also apparently furious over the Grammys, especially as it was supposed to be a “fundraiser” event for the LA fires.

The source added: “This was totally disrespectful to the Grammys. To pull a stunt at what is essentially a fundraiser and in the context of what has been going on in LA is almost inconceivably stupid, crass and wrong.
“It’s a f*** up on a huge scale, but all that Kanye is interested in at the moment is launching his cryptocurrency, and everything else seems to pass him by.”
