Peaky Blinders mural unveiled in Birmingham as people travel from across the globe to see it

The Peaky Blinders legacy has now officially left its mark on Birmingham

A Peaky Blinders mural has been unveiled in Birmingham, with fans coming from across the world to see it.

The city’s new landmark dominates the side of Digbeth Loc Studios, capturing the iconic faces of Thomas Shelby, Ada Shelby and Alfie Solomons in stunning detail.

The mastermind behind the masterpiece, Daniel Russell-Ahern, aka Mr Mural, dedicated over 210 hours and three weeks to spray-painting the enormous tribute along Montague Street.

The response has been overwhelming, with fans from Spain, Pakistan, and beyond traveling to see it. Even Tom Hardy, who plays Alfie Solomons in the series, reacted on Instagram with a simple but powerful: “Wow.”

The mural was commissioned by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, who wanted to transform the studios, where part of the upcoming Netflix Peaky Blinders movie, The Immortal Man, is being filmed.

Daniel, no stranger to high-profile projects, previously flew to Los Angeles to design Jason Derulo’s basketball court, but he calls this his biggest achievement yet.

Sharing his journey on social media, Daniel expressed his deep connection to the city, saying: “Three weeks of spray-painting later and Digbeth Loc Studio’s looks brand new!

“The thing that made this project extra special was the people in Birmingham.

“The community in and around Digbeth kept my energy up by constantly giving me encouragement and kind words throughout as some days I was exhausted.

“So many nationalities stopped by, people visiting family on holiday, others traveling for work and on their way to university it was unreal.”

With filming for The Immortal Man now in full swing, the Peaky Blinders legacy continues to leave its mark on Birmingham. Oscar winner Cillian Murphy reprises his role as Tommy Shelby, joined by an all-star cast including Barry Keoghan, Tim Roth, and Rebecca Ferguson.

Both the mural and the movie are bringing new energy to Digbeth, reinforcing Birmingham’s status as a creative hub.
