Sam Fender postpones Glasgow concert hours before show due to vocal chord injury

He has now postponed the rest of his UK and Ireland tour dates

British singer-songwriter Sam Fender has been forced to postpone all remaining dates on the UK and Ireland leg of his People Watching arena tour, including tonight’s (17th December) sold out show at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro.

Fender wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that he had some tests done which found he’d  “haemorrhaged [his] right vocal cord”, and that “two separate ENT doctors” had advised that lasting damage may occur if he were to perform.

As a result, he has been advised to be on “vocal rest”, and will not undertake the remaining shows.

He also told his fans that “this has been the best tour so far” and that all he wanted to do was to “get up and sing”.

Adding to his statement, Fender said that he had “done everything by the book on this tour”, and that it was “so unlucky”.

He explained that he was “absolutely heartbroken”, and apologised to fans, adding that he was working out a plan for rescheduling the dates.

Fender had been on his sold-out arena tour for most of December, and had previously played dates in Dublin, Leeds, Manchester, London and Birmingham to mark his upcoming album, People Watching, which releases in February 2025.
