Bournemouth’s Christmas Market is back, and here’s what to expect from your visit
It’s the most wonderful time of the year
Bournemouth’s iconic Christmas Market is returning on 14th November at 6pm. Brace yourselves for lots of festive fun.
Activities include:
1. Skate Bournemouth
Skate Bournemouth is a picturesque skate rink located in Bournemouth’s Lower Gardens, and will be open until 5th January. If your mission is to become the next ‘Dancing on Ice’ star, then this is an activity not to miss. Student tickets are priced at £14, and you get a whole hour on the rink. Confession: I left 30 minutes early as I was too scared about breaking bones, and couldn’t justify paying extra for a penguin skate aid.
2. Food and drink stalls
Bournemouth’s Christmas Market is truly food and drink galore. They sell everything from Yorkshire pudding wraps to hog roasts and freshly-made hot chocolates. You can pick a variety of hot-chocolate flavours – everything from chocolate-orange to gingerbread. As well as this, you can purchase a super cool light up mug for your hot chocolate to be served in. My mug has come in great use and is something I shall certainly be bringing out every Christmas.
3. The Christmas Tree Wonderland
Most Read
The Christmas Tree Wonderland is a free, gorgeous festive tree trail around Bournemouth Lower Gardens, opening on 15th November until 31st December. Last year, there was even a giant 3D Christmas tree. This year promises to include “replica Christmas trees from around the world”. The Christmas Tree Wonderland makes for the perfect romantic stroll, or walk with your house mates. It does get quite busy though, so I’d recommend visiting earlier in the day in order to avoid being swarmed by buggies…
4. The Alpine Lodge
The Alpine Lodge is a two-storey bar serving food and drink until 1st January. Fancy a mulled wine or the special ‘alpine lager’? Then make sure to head down. The Alpine Lodge also have different events on throughout the week, including a quiz night, a Christmas karaoke, and an open-mic. This is definitely the place to get merry with friends.
5. Retail outlets
Fancy some retail therapy? The Christmas Market has plenty of retail outlets to keep you occupied. Everything from bags, olives and fresh brownies are up for grabs. Carol and choir performances are also taking place until 22nd December, making for the ultimate shopping experience.
And much more…
So, wrap yourselves up in a coasy coat, put a hat and some gloves on, and head down as many times at you fancy. Bournemouth’s Christmas Market is a truly magical experience and in my opinion is the highlight of the year.
